KAT HILLYARD: PART 1

My name is Kat -- really Kathryn after my great-grandmother -- and I'm currently 21-years old. I study telecommunications at the University of Florida and will be starting my senior year in the fall, yikes! I'm a member of Phi Mu here at UF and I am absolutely obsessed with my sisters. When I'm not at the house (mostly hanging out downstairs and putting off studying), I'm probably binging on Netflix or at Starbucks chugging down a venti chai tea latte. Cliche it may be, but this sorority has given me so many invaluable friendships and opportunities, and I could not be more thankful for all the incredible people I've met.

This year was difficult for me. I went in thinking all of my plans where falling into place, but I was reminded that the things you think you want aren't necessarily the things you need. I had some highs and some lows throughout this last year, but I have been reminded again and again what an amazing support system I have been blessed with. This spring I had the chance grow closer with lots of the people in my life and was fortunate enough to gain a couple of new best friends as well. I had been shutting myself in to please one person, and in turn was missing out on the best experiences. My tattoo says "Say yes" and is supposed to serve as a personal reminder to always live my life as positively as possible. Once I realized that not everyone is meant to have a permanent place in your life, sometimes just meant to help you grow, I was able to be a kind of happy and content I never had before.

I decided to start this blog as a way to document my adventures with my friends and share my experiences, good and bad. Writing is something I've always enjoyed, but definitely don't do enough of so I'm hoping this will get me back into the swing of things. I'm so excited to start this journey and hope I can help bring a little bit of fun and laughter into your day!
